No extabation on Wednesday. The surgeon said the graft looks great (WONDERFUL NEWS), but there is too much swelling still present in the airway. The risk of forcing him to breathe on his own when there is swelling means more work for him, and the risk of failure in this whole process. So, even though we are a bit deflated with this latest news...it really is a good thing. It is great that the graft looks so good. It is great that they are giving him the time he needs to let the swelling go down.
What isn't the best...is the sedation battle continues. The plans we had for family to travel here to bring our sweet little Addy here. We just don't know if we want to wait any longer to see her... So if anyone is reading this and traveling to the Cincinnati area and would be willing to bring a sweet 2 year old with you...let us know! :-)
We are thankful for wise decisions on behalf of the doctors so today is a win in our books. Just a few more challenging days ahead!
